GGPoker’s Fedor Holz Says He Lost Over $1.5M Playing iPoker In 2021 Summary Fedor Holz considers 2021 as the worst year of his career

Admits he lost $1.5 million across 500 online tournaments

The German poker pro finished second during this week’s Super MILLION$

2021 didn’t go very well for Fedor Holz ‘s poker career. The German poker superstar disclosed that he lost $1.5 million at the virtual felt in what he described as his “ worst year ” in poker so far.

While his total losses playing online poker in 2021 amounted to around $1.5 million, Holz said he sold some action which brought his personal losses down to $700,000.

In his recent YouTube video where he shared details of his online losses last year, the GGPoker ambassador also talked about some of the most important factors to consider when assessing a player’s performance and profitability – volume, buy-in, win rate, and field size. Holz said he only played 500 online tournaments in 2021 with an average buy-in of $3,500. He focused on high-stakes events and fired $5K, $10K, and $25K on multiple occasions. His losses last year might look like a lot of money for some, but if we put things into perspective, it wasn’t that bad at all.

Given that he was playing high-stakes tourneys with up to $25K as entry fee, the amount of money lost was high but the potential upside would have been high as well. He also emphasized that win rates aren’t the same in live and online poker. In his case, his win rate at live tournaments is relatively higher though the volume is low.

In 2015/2016, arguably the best period of his career, Holz played 4,000 to 5,000 online tournaments and amassed massive sums but the main highlight was his excellent performance in the live poker arena where his sick tournament run earned him more than $16 million in live cashes.
