iPoker confirms it is working with its partners — including Toronto-based NorthStar — to bring iPoker Ontario to life. Playtech has plans to launch an iPoker network in the Ontario regulated market, PRO can confirm.
Its partner NorthStar Bets is looking to launch Ontario online poker later this year, and other Playtech licensees may join. Coolbet and Bet365 appear to be potential candidates.
Last week, Playtech issued a press release announcing the launch of its IMS multi-platform solution onto NorthStar, adding its multi-channel back-end and live casino services to an existing sports and casino product.
The Toronto-based company launched mobile sports betting and online casino last month using Playtech’s software, but always planned to launch Playtech’s full iGaming stack.
However, notably, last week’s press release briefly mentioned: “the addition of poker content later this year.” A Playtech spokesperson confirmed to PRO that this was a reference to its peer-to-peer online poker platform, iPoker.
The company is working with its partners to establish an Ontario online poker network, PRO was told. The company could not yet reveal a concrete timeline nor discuss potential network partners.
