PokerStars Ontario Licensed Online Poker Room Goes Live. With the launch of PokerStars Ontario, the operator now has eight segregated poker networks across the globe and four in the North American market. Flutter online poker subsidiary PokerStars finally set its foot into the regulated Ontario online poker market on Tuesday afternoon. PokerStars Ontario becomes the third regulated online poker network in Canada’s largest province after 888poker Ontario and BetMGM/partypoker network Ontario.

Its arrival in Ontario (Flutter’s native province) came nearly three months after the iGaming market opened. During this time, the operator worked with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and iGaming Ontario (iGO) for its license and continued to serve the market using the offshore license.

Its first approval came on June 8 after the AGCO granted a license to PokerStars for each of its three verticals. However, it still needed to execute the operating agreement with the iGO before it could officially go live. That came on Tuesday morning and was announced by the operator in a press release .

One day before its launch, the operator listed the migration steps for the existing Ontario players who needed to transition to the new platform. The transition steps were straightforward. However, there were a few hiccups initially, with a few players reporting getting “locked out” during the migration process. However, once PokerStars resolved the issue, cash game tables started filling fast, and the tournaments had no difficulty covering their guarantees.

The PokerStars Ontario room officially went live at approximately 2 pm on Tuesday.
